Chapter 1
The Tellens weren't just mind readers, they were also big people. The
biggest ever were Kane & Pella and they're still ruling
Telleria today. Telleria is the only country that grew Pol Fruit, which
often made people bigger than they should be. Kane & Pella are
up to 7' in height, which is a record. They're so big because they're
both obsessed with Pol Fruit and eat up to 7 a day.
Kane was walking through his palace while eating a
Pol Fruit (as usual). It was morning and the capital city Bermuda shone
nicely in the purple sunlight. He pressed a button and a door
opened to a bedroom.
"Oh, Loria's not in her room."
He didn't notice anything at first because he was too used to the
sight. "Loria's not in her room!"
Kane quickly strode away from the bedroom and turned
left at the main corridor. He dropped his fruit in a bin. Then he
pushed a button and another door opened.
"THAT'S IT! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!" Kane boomed.
He walked over to the window. "I know why you do it, but you have to do
it right!"
"What are you talking about?" asked Jaron. He was
lying beneath his bedcover but Loria was simply lying on the bed.
"This has been happening all year Jaron," Kane said.
His blue eyes were in their most evil form. He snatched up a sash from
a table. "Marry her!" he shouted.
Jaron didn't say anything. He was too scared and
confused.
"This isn't a perfect day either is it?" Kane
slammed the sash on the table and crossed his arms.
"What's up with him?"Jaron asked.
"He doesn't want anything accidental to happen,"
answered Loria.
Kane felt himself relax and walked over to the bed.
He uncrossed his arms and sat on the edge. He looked at Jaron, who had
long blonde hair that was straight and a green head-feather to match.
Loria had fiery, red hair that waved.
"Maybe shouting at you was a bad way to start off
your birthday," said Kane. "But even if you are now 19 you're still
going to follow my orders."
"Plus you like it," said Loria, who was smiling.
Kane smiled, then it went.
"Get dressed," he ordered.
Her smile went and she angrily strode out of the
room. Jaron looked behind her, then turned back to Kane.
"You've been getting mad for hardly anything at
all this week, can't you just chill?" asked Jaron. "I mean,
what's going on?"
Kane stared at the blonde. "Go to the Grand Hall for
breakfast." He then stood up and walked out of the room.
Jaron stared at the closed door for a while. "He
seems to be having problems lately...it's probably nothing," he
thought, then he got out of bed to get changed. Loria rushed back in
after a few minutes. Jaron was just deciding what top to put on.
"One good thing about Tyrons, they don't have to
shave," Loria said to Jaron.
"Weird remarks as
usual," thought Jaron. "I wonder if I should wear Tyron
fashions," he told her. He smiled and reached for a green top. He
hummed 'Happy Birthday' to himself. He put on his top, finished humming
and started looking round his room.
"What are you looking for?" asked Loria.
He then asked: "Why don't you read my mind and find
out?" Loria did just that and found out he was looking for his
favourite pair of shoes. She headed for the shelves, thinking it's
where they'd be. "Tried them, they're not there."
She jumped and turned round quickly. "You always
look under the shelves. Why?" He laughed and shook his head, then
looked and walked to a cupboard near him. He opened it. "Here they are."
Loria jogged to the cupboard, took the shoes out and
looked at them. They were a nice orange colour that mixed with blue.
"These were the shoes I gave you for your birthday
last year. Not wearing them for a month made me think you forgot
about 'em."
"Nope." Jaron took the shoes and walked to his bed.
"I was making sure they were in good condition so that I could wear
them today." He sat down to put them on. With his shoes on, Jaron stood
up. Loria noticed that the blue on his shoes matched his blue trousers.
"What are you staring at me for Loria? It's
breakfast time and I'm hungry."
Loria tilted her head. "Why don't you pull me?"
"Fine," he shrugged. Jaron opened his door, grabbed
Loria and flew-literally-down the corridor.
Loria bounced on the ground and laughed and giggled all the way.
At one point, Jaron flew down a ramp and tipped a bin, spilling out all
the Pol Fruit wastes of the week.
Jaron stopped flying at a door and made sure Loria
could stand. He let go but she fell and Jaron quickly caught her. This
time she was able to stand. He opened the door and was welcomed by a
huge shout of "SURPRISE!".
Everyone in the hall and Loria started to sing
'Happy Birthday' to him as he stared around the hall.
Kane and Pella were there. Loria's baby sister
Corina, was coming up to him, pushing a trolley with his birthday cake
on it. There were senior servants, Corina's friends and then he gasped.
"Loria the whole school's here!" Loria shook her
head.
"Damon needed an operation and some people in the
eighth year caught fevers!" She needed to shout because of the
noise.
The song finished and Jaron blew out all 19 candles.
Everyone cheered. Pella was walking towards him with a black Tyron girl
with her.
"Tyron? Like me?" he thought.
Pella then said: "Jaron, I'd like you to meet
Yatri. She's a bit older than you but you should be able to get along
quite nicely."
Jaron and Yatri shook hands. Yatri dressed like a Tyron and had yellow
colour-feathers (head and wing-rim).
"So," Jaron began, "you're to be my Porter. Sure you
want the job?"
"Yeah," answered Yatri.
Pella left them to get a Pol Fruit(!). "Pol Fruit time."
"So how did you end up in Telleria?" asked Jaron.
"My family has lived at Samsul Beach for a century.
I felt I needed to live in the high life," Yatri told him.
"So you trained as a Porter to get a good job among
the Royal Family?" Jaron asked.
"Right." Her eyes narrowed. "I don't think you'll
believe me but it's because we live at a beach that my Dad is half
Zamaki fish." Jaron stared at her, then Loria tugged at his arm.
"Come and see how many presents you've got!" she
said with a smile.
Jaron chased after her and found a mountain of
presents on a table.
"Most of these presents are things to help me start
out as an adult," said Jaron. It was evening and they were all sitting
on sofas in front of the wrapped and unwrapped presents.
"Most people have presents like these when they turn
19," Pella pointed out, then chuckled. "I remember my main present at
19 being a pregnancy tester."
"I like your plans for the hospital," Corina said
quickly.
"What?" Jaron asked. Corina showed the drawing on
his 'Plan-Pad'.
"That's one present already in use," said Loria.
"What's up with you Kane?" asked Jaron.
Kane stopped staring into space. "Jaron..," he
began. "I was hoping that we would have gained access to Tyrony by now
so you could meet your parents in person, but communications are still
blocked, so I've decided to tell you about them myself."
"You knew about my family all along?" the birthday
boy asked.
"Yes." Kane reached for a button on a control pad
and a picture came up on the screen. "Here are your parents at their
coronation."
"This must have been taken from a far distance,"
said Yatri. "I can't see them too well."
"No one can," answered Pella. Kane pressed another
button and the picture changed.
"This is your family picture," Kane told Jaron. "It
was taken when you were 2 days old."
"Who's that?" Jaron pointed at the boy in the
picture.
"Your brother Rida," Kane told him. "Older by 5
years."
Jaron looked at his Dad and brother. They also had
blonde hair and green colour -feathers, but Rida's hair was short and
his Dad's hair was long and curly.
"What were their names?" Loria asked.
"Vanus and his queen Salra," Pella answered.
"Didn't they have any girls?" Corina asked. Pella
shook her head.
Jaron then looked at Salra. Long, straight, brown hair with red colour-
feathers.
"When I go back, I'll wear a gold ribbon like they
are won't I?" he asked.
"Of course you will," answered Pella.
Jaron then grinned. "Yatri, your first duty is to
frame this picture."
"What frame?" his porter asked.
"Bronze would be nice," he answered.
Yatri quickly walked out of the lounge door.
